Activity Types vs. Event/Session Types

Activity Type = Valid ACCME PARS reporting types (Course, Regularly Scheduled Series, Internet Live Course, Enduring Material, Internet Activity Enduring Material, Journal-based CME, Manuscript Review, Test Item Writing, Committee Learning, Performance Improvement, Internet Searching and Learning & Learning from Teaching).  These are the ONLY types allowed per ACCME reporting guidelines and as such are the only ones most clients are concerned.

For HighMarksCE purposes, a 'Live Activity = Course’.

Event/Session Type = Standard types (session, workshop, panel, committee meeting, pre-meeting course, etc) PLUS some of the 'Activity Types'. The Event/Session Types need to be defined in terms of traditional conversations (i.e. ‘do you have a panel versus a workshop’) PLUS the standard Activity Types.

In general, the following happens:

Activity Type -> Event Type

Course -> Session, Panel, Workshop, Pre-Meeting Course, Committee.

Committee Learning -> Committee

Enduring Material -> Enduring Material

Internet Activity Enduring Material -> Internet Activity Enduring Material

Internet Live Course -> Internet Live Course

Internet Searching and Learning -> Internet Searching and Learning

Journal-based CME -> Journal

Learning from Teaching -> Session, Panel, Workshop, Pre-Meeting Course, etc.

Manuscript Review -> Manuscript

Performance Improvement -> Performance Improvement

Regularly Scheduled Series -> Grand Rounds

Test Item Writing -> Test Item Writing
